title: Your first interactive talk
description: Create a poll, receive your first answer, collect feedback, and close your session.
---

By the end of this guide, you will have run a small talk called **Getting to know the room** and collected a real answer. No Slidev integration is required.

## Before you start

- [Create an account](/auth/register) or [sign in](/auth/login), verify your email, and complete any access steps shown by Inalia.
- Have a second device or private browser window ready to act as an audience member. Attendees do not need an account.
- Check your plan's available talks and questions. Live Reactions and Audience Questions require Premium; neither is needed for this tutorial.

Use a practice talk: this walkthrough saves real participation. For non-saving rehearsals, see [Rehearse safely](/docs/presenting/rehearsal).

## 1. Create a talk

From your talks workspace, choose **Create Talk**. Set **Talk Title** to **Getting to know the room**, add a **Brief Description**, and choose an **Accent Color** and **Scheduled Date**. Submit the form.

You should see your talk workspace with a **Status** card. New talks are disabled; a scheduled date does not start them automatically.

If creation cannot be confirmed, check your talk list before submitting again.

## 2. Create your first poll

Choose **Create Question** and fill in:

| Field | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Question | How familiar are you with this topic? |
| Type | Single Select |
| Input Label | Your experience |
| Input Placeholder | Choose one answer |
| Selection Type | Radio |
| Chart Type | Bar |

Use **Add Choice** to create three choices. Give each a distinct value and a color:

| Choice text | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Just starting | beginner |
| Some experience | intermediate |
| Very familiar | experienced |

Choose **Create Question** to save. You should see the question in your talk's question list.

These are speaker-created questions for attendees to answer. **Audience Questions** is a separate feature for questions attendees ask you.

## 3. Open participation

Choose **Run** in the **Status** card. Open **Overview** to check the audience-facing talk page.

Open your poll and copy its **Audience short link** to your second device or private window. Do not share your workspace or **Live presenter results** URL.

You should see the poll and its three choices without needing to sign in.

## 4. Submit and review an answer

On the audience device, select **Some experience** and submit the form. In your owner workspace, open the question's **Live presenter results**.

You should see the answer reflected in the results. The question detail also lists saved answers; use **Refresh answers** if needed.

If nothing arrives, confirm that the talk is running, the link belongs to this question, and demo mode is off. See [Troubleshooting](/docs/help/troubleshooting).

## 5. Collect feedback before finishing

Enable **Feedback** in the talk workspace. From the audience overview, follow the feedback link and submit a rating or message. Review it in your owner workspace.

Keep the talk **running** while collecting built-in feedback. Enabling Feedback alone does not open participation, and finishing the talk closes the built-in form.

If you configure an external form instead, test its access separately. See [Interactions](/docs/getting-started/interactions#feedback).

## 6. Close the session

When participation and feedback collection are complete, choose **Finish**.

Your saved answers and feedback remain available in your owner workspace. **Disable** pauses participation without marking the session finished. Running a finished talk again does not clear its old data.

For a new session, duplicate the talk rather than mixing audiences' results. Check the duplicate's demo-mode setting before presenting.
