title: Troubleshooting
description: Check talk status, permissions, connectivity, and Slidev setup.
---

## Attendees cannot interact

1. Confirm they opened the audience link for the correct talk, not a presenter or workspace link.
2. Check the **Status** card and choose **Run** if the talk is not running.
3. Confirm the relevant interaction is enabled.
4. Open the audience page on a second device to reproduce the problem.
5. Check the network connection on both the audience and presenter devices.

An interaction may also be unavailable because of account permissions or plan limits. Check these if its control is disabled.

## Updates do not appear live

Live interactions depend on connectivity. If the page loads but updates do not appear, check whether a venue network, VPN, or browser extension is blocking real-time connections.

Try another network or a browser without extensions to isolate the problem. Avoid repeatedly submitting the same action while its outcome is uncertain.

## A workspace action fails

If your session has expired, sign in again or reload the page as directed by the error message. When the application says it refreshed your session, submit again only when you are ready; the action is not automatically retried.

If creation or another change could not be confirmed, check the current talk list or talk details before retrying. The server may have accepted the action even if your browser did not receive the response.

## Participation appears live but is not saved

Check [demo mode](/docs/presenting/rehearsal#use-demo-mode-through-the-integration-api). Demo submissions can be broadcast without being stored. Disable demo mode before the real session, including on duplicated talks, and confirm a fresh answer is saved.

Demo mode does not erase existing results. Audience-question voting and highlighting are unavailable while it is enabled.

## Built-in feedback is unavailable

Keep the talk **running** and **Feedback** enabled until attendees finish submitting. A finished talk does not accept built-in feedback. An external form has its own access rules.

## Feedback opens the wrong place

Check whether the talk has an external feedback URL configured. Use **Change Feedback URL** to review the destination, and test it without your own account's access to the external form.

## A Slidev component does not render

Check that `slidev-addon-inalia` is installed in the slide project and listed in the deck's `addons` frontmatter. Restart Slidev after changing addon configuration.

Try the [static example](/docs/slidev/reference#static-question) to separate component installation issues from live connection issues. A static example is not expected to receive audience updates.

## Static Slidev data works but live data does not

Check the [connection settings](/docs/slidev/reference#connection-settings):

- Both the API token and talk number must be present. Missing values activate static mode.
- The speaker username is discovered from the token; use the talk number within that account and a question number within that talk.
- If account discovery fails, check the token and backend support for `GET /api/me`.
- Restart Slidev after changing environment files.
- Check project environment settings and `~/.inaliarc` for an unintended account or talk.
- Use a valid token with **read** permission for the owning account. Integration controls that run a talk or change demo mode also require **write**.
- Complete email verification and any required account-access steps.
- If answers appear only after refreshing, investigate realtime connectivity rather than repeatedly resubmitting.

Never post your token or an unredacted environment file when asking for help. If exposed, delete the token in [Tokens](/profile/tokens) and create a replacement.

## Copy page does not work

Your browser must allow clipboard access. If copying fails, choose **View as Markdown** from the page actions menu and copy the text manually.

Markdown exports contain the article source, including frontmatter. Relative links are intended to be read in the context of this documentation site.
