# Core concepts

## Talk

A talk is the workspace for one presentation session. It contains the event details, questions, feature settings, and collected participation. Each talk belongs to one speaker account.

A talk has a number within that account. Questions have their own numbers within the talk. Use the links generated by Inalia rather than guessing a URL.

## Speaker questions and audience questions

These are two separate workflows:

| Concept | Who creates it? | What happens next? |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Speaker question | You, before or during preparation | Audience members submit text or select choices; you view the answers and results. |
| Audience question | An audience member during the talk | Other audience members vote; you choose what to address or highlight. |

See [Questions and answers](questions-and-answers.md) and [Audience questions](audience-questions.md).

## Live reactions and feedback

**Live reactions** are momentary emoji reactions broadcast during a talk. They are not a saved feedback report.

**Feedback** consists of saved feedback reactions and written messages. You can also direct people to an external feedback service instead of Inalia's form.

## Owner views and audience views

Your talk workspace, dashboard, and question results are presenter tools. Audience members use public participation links and do not need an Inalia account.

Anonymous participation uses a browser session for features such as voting and feedback. This is not a guarantee that all submitted content is private: avoid sharing sensitive information in questions or messages.

## Availability

Participation depends on both the [talk state](talk-lifecycle.md) and the relevant feature setting. Enabling a feature does not start the talk.
